Taichung

Introduction : We will be based in west of Taichung this summer for two months. My goal in this four day trip is to show the taiwanese life according to our five senses : taste, sight, hearing, smell and touch I have been many times to Taiwan, more than 15 times and each time i discover a new side of taiwanese way of life. Now it is time to show what i appreciate in Taiwan. Travelling in Taiwan is really a five sense experience. For each place we will visit, we will organize our trip according to the five senses. We will experience food, drink, massage, ... and show us doing all this. Using objects of daily life, we will try to put them in artistic way to highlight all the wealth of Taiwanese culture. Besides all this, i intend to keep a paper of our experiences. We will put the seals of places we visit onto this paper. This will be shown several times per day in the video. I want to put ideas to make the videos in an original way while keeping it simple. For example, i plan to draw Taiwan map with black ink on a traditional chinese roll. I will then add tea pots for each destination. On the boat (from orchid island) i will put the two opera mask symbolizing our team. We will travel in Taiwan and once arrived at destination we open the tea pot to let the flavours of the place appear. We then show the video of our daily experience. From Taichung train station, we take the local bus to Sun Moon Lake in the early morning.

Sun Moon Lake

After arrival, we will head to Wen Wu temple to admire the view about the lake from the yellow roofs. I will take picture of lucky charms inside the temple. Then we will take the boat to go to the small island on the lake. We plan to rent electrical bikes to go to other very beautiful spots around the lake

Taipei

In the end of the afternoon, we take the local bus to Taipei (departure at 4pm). Night in Taipei around Main Train Station. I have noticed some very well designed hotel there. I want to try this one www.hotel73.com. Taiwanese people like to explore new concept. Travelling in Taiwan is such a different experience from travelling in France. Many traditional and modern things to explore in Taiwan. If we are not too tired i wish to go to Raohe night market (east of Taipei) and have a look at Ciyou temple (look at the pic i put on our team introduction page)

Taipei

During the day : We first begin with taipei 101, then go to Din Tai Fung for lunch, then visit long shan si temple (south west)or guandu temple (north) to record life in temple and explain how people proceed when they come to pray, and in the evening : night markets (around long shan si or shilin). I would like to show all the life in the night market. The food of course but also all the health care we can find there : foot massage, face massage... We will take MRT of Taipei city buses to travel.

Night in Taipei around Main Train Station

Taipei

In the morning, take at the Main Station the Gaotie (High Speed Train) to Tainan.

Tainan

By walk or local bus, Visit the main temples in Tainan : Confucius, the towers If possible, i would like to record a temple procession to show all the street life in Taiwan. Night in Tainan

Tainan

Find places where people prepare themselves the pasta (mian and all kinds of bao/dumplings). Eat niu rou mian (beef noodle) and ball from Tainan food stall. The intention is to record people preparing food with their hand. This is definitely one of the best side of taiwanese way of life. From the street, we can see so many things. In Europe, everything is closed inside... in Taiwan, it is a real pleasure for the eyes and also very tasty !

Taichung

Back to Taichung by High Speed Train or local train in the evening. Our trip is going to natural and traditional sites. Easy to travel with public transportation even if we do not speak chinese. I often questionned my friends and family who visited Taiwan with us, five sense experience is what they recommend for visiting Taiwan.
