ABOVE & BELOW is Taiwan's Best Trip!...Why? Have a Look!
Our goal is to create the best 4 day travel itinerary that shows you what Taiwan is truly all about while touching on all aspects of life here. If you are looking for easy access to fun places in Taiwan, but you only have limited time, this is the itinerary for you!
    Our tour offers the best of Taiwan:  Whether you are looking to explore its scenic wonders such as beaches and mountains and experience the ancient local culture and temples of the rural areas or want to live it up in the major cities at night, we offer it all!
      During the trip, you'll experience tantalizing food, exotic sunsets and a sunrise, mesmerizing hiking trails, convenient cycling and authentic music.  You'll meet local aboriginals and take a trip to an offshore island.  You'll explore underwater sea creatures, and touch on a local festival!  Plus, take a refreshing dip in one of Taiwan's world famous hot springs.  All this and more captured in the warm pulse that beats through Taiwan and its friendly people.

      Taiwan's Transportation System is Cheap and Convenient
      We traveled by bus, boat, scooter, tram, taxi, Taipei Metro, Kaohsiung Metro 4x4 jeep, sliding bicycle, gondola and the new High Speed Rail to make our itinerary possible. If you want to save money, get a group of four people for the 4x4 jeep adventure(book here). The High Speed Rail has savings of up to 35% off the ticket price online.
      Taiwan's Affordable Accommodation Options
      We wanted to test different types of accommodation. In Kenting, we stayed at Kenting Surf Shop Guesthouse. On Liou Ciou Island, we camped at Samaji Island Camping Village. In Taipei, we stayed at Holo Family House Hostel. All places were cheap, clean, and comfortable. Go to these links and book ahead for savings.
      Reasonably Priced Taiwan Tour Budget
      Taiwan is a great place for budget travelers. We saved money on transportation, accommodation and food allowing some extra spending cash for activities. Our biggest expense was the 4x4 off-road jeep excursion and the High Speed Rail.
        If you want to save more money, many other cheaper activities in Kenting like go-carts or kayaking are also brilliant options for you. We strongly recommend Taiwan's long distance buses as they are very comfortable and cost only a third of the price.
        Itinerary's Theme for Taiwan's Best Trip
              Above & Below's theme stands for Mountains, Sea, North and South.
      • Day 1 Kenting: The 4x4 jeep adventure started in the mountains near Manjhou Township, twisting through a hair-raising dirt path followed by splashing through a river drenching us in the process. The afternoon was spent enjoying the sea at Nanwan Beach , South Bay Beach, and Sail Rock Beach.
      • Day 2 Liou Ciou Island: We started the morning at Taiwan's biggest aquarium (National Museum of Maine Biology and Aquarium) to view the underwater world and see the world's largest fish, the whale shark. In the afternoon, we explored an offshore coral island.
      • Day 3 Kaohsiung: We started with a morning snorkel at Flower Vase Rock. Later, we explored Donggang Fish Market to witness fishermen process their cargo. In the afternoon, we cycled around Lotus Pond and up Shoushan Mountain's Martyrs' Shrine to enjoy the city view before traveling north to Taipei.
      • Day 4 Taipei and Wulai: At Wulai, we took a gondola above Wulai Waterfall in the morning. In the afternoon, we hiked up Muzha Mountain in time to enjoy the sunset over Taipei then returned to the city via Elephant Mountain.
        • Taiwan's Amazing Culture
        Taiwan is considered as an Asian Tiger for its economic wealth and prosperity, also known as the Taiwan Miracle. Taiwanese enjoy the freedom to express themselves through a colorful culture. They are hard working, affectionate and extraordinarily friendly towards tourists. Preserving its traditional roots while maintaining one of the most modern lifestyles in the world, Taiwan always has something exciting to discover for everyone.
        Delicious Taiwanese Cuisine to Satisfy Your Soul
        We thoroughly enjoyed Taiwanese cuisine, which is unique and flavorful. We especially liked the night market snacks. There’s a multitude of choices, some of which may need a little bit of courage to try, such as stinky tofu. But there was always a taste for every palate. There was never a hassle finding an appetizing and affordable restaurant. We highly recommend savoring some flavorful Taiwanese cuisine for yourself!
        Taiwan's Abundant Water Supply
        Taiwan's large range of water activities made our trip complete by splashing through a river, frolicking on beaches, observing marine animals in a world class aquarium, visiting an offshore coral island, snorkeling, cycling around a lake, viewing a majestic waterfall, relaxing in Wulai Hot Springs and witnessing spring board divers at Xindian's Emerald Lake.
        Chasing the Sun in Taiwan for 4 Days
        Going somewhere wouldn't be complete without finding a memorable sunrise or sunset. Our plan was to find such a moment and capture at least one good photo during our trip. Taiwan answered our prayers and blessed us everyday.
        Friendly Faces of Taiwan
        The people in these photos leave us with special memories. We were deeply touched by their kindness, and most of all, their selfless help. Without their suggestions and guidance, it's impossible to make this wonderful trip and record such impressive photos and videos. To all the people who have supported us along this journey, we'd like to give them a special thanks.
