In july we came back to Taiwan to visit our family in law in Taichung. Besides my vacation, this contest is a good opportunity for me to travel in Taiwan with my eldest daughter (10 years old). I have been many times to Taiwan but this time i want to travel with her and see how she will discover Taiwan. She reads and speaks chinese fluently. I speak chinese a bit and english much better. She is curious and i am organized. We constitue a good team to discover Taiwan alltogether. Our search will bring us to discover the meaning of these chinese characters.

Taiwan is a country where anything is possible. Each day brings a surprise. The street life and the food are the two main reasons which give me the envy to come back again and share it with other friends. Being a traveller in Taiwan is such a nice pleasure as you can see everything from street : night market, temple procession, and all inside the shops !

We started our four day trip on the 30th of August 2009. Click on the picture hereunder to see our route on Googlemap. You can click on the picture and see where it was taken. You can zoom in and find the addresses of the places we stopped at.
http://tiny.cc/taiwanbesttripIn Central Taiwan, at Sun Moon Lake we did admire the freshness of summer, took an electrical bike to WenWu temple and had a boat ride on the lake. We then head up to Taipei for a tour in the night markets, temples and famous food streets. Raohe night market was such a night time eating and trying facial massage. So amazing ! Then we head south to the ancient capital for a food tour. Each city has its own food specialities and Tainan is one of the best place for food eaters ! As for transportation, we only used Train and Local Buses. No need to rent a car in Taiwan. From my experience, it is so easy to take Train. Almost in each train station, you have a Visitor Center that can help you to find a night, to get to your destination. Very convenient. Speaking english and using public transportation is a good way to travel in Taiwan. Last but not least, taiwanese people are always ready to come to help you to find your way. My first time in Taiwan was in 1996...and since then i come back each year. After many experiences of taiwanese way of life, i decided to write a cultural travel guide about Taiwan : 'Taiwan Plus'. No hotel or restaurant addresses. All is about culture : wedding,temple,sport,writing,chinese,...It has been published last january 2008 in France, Belgium and Canada.
