Taipei to Tainan

This saturday morning we reached the Taipei train station at 9.30am . Many people were already waiting to buy their ticket on the HSR (High Speed Rail). We waited 20 min before getting our tickets but we can say that even with a long queue it was fast. Our destination for today is Tainan, in the south. It took 1.40 min only to go from north to south. HSR is very convenient; but then it is much more expensive than common train. Arrived in Tainan city, we went to the Visitor Centre to get some help to find a hotel. I really recommend to do this in Taiwan. People are always ready to help you and i always found a hotel room ! We then had a tour around to find temples. As the weather is much warmer here, we often stopped to get some drinks in the convenient stores like 7 Eleven. In the courtyard in front of the Confucius temple, two groups were playing music. Inside the temple, it was quiet for a weekend day. If you come to Tainan, try to choose the 28th of September as it is the birthday of Confucius celebrated by teachers and student. Be careful as it starts around 6 am. Alicia then asked to get some cold drink with red bean. It was then time to have our dinner at 6pm. A friend of mine advised me to go to this noodle restaurant in the south, close to Fahua temple. Indeed it is popular as many people come here. This is often the best criteria to know if the food is good. When i added the tofu-meat sauce the taste was so delicious. You now have the name. I recommend you to try by yourself. We walked around there to find other temples but they were all closed.
The temperature is indeed warmer in Tainan so we do enjoy trying any kind of cold drink, like the pearl milk tea. This drink came from Taichung and you can find it all over Taiwan, in south east asia and even in North America and Europe. The tapioca pearls give a special taste ! Have a try.

Tainan is a nice city for walking, small streets and always a new place to discover.
