Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe :
This is our 1st stop of the day where we had lunch. In the morning, we did some blogging and video editing in our rooms and ate the complimentary breakfast(Pork floss and egg mayo sandwich + a packet of juice) which was sent to our room every morning so as not to waste food and money(which is meant for shopping!);p.
Anyway back to the main place of interest for the day -------Hello Kitty Cafe! The cafe is really really really very luxuriously well-decorated to the theme!!! When we went in, naturally the first thing to do is to take photos and take videos non-stop till we covered every details of the cafe deco! Even outside the cafe you can already start taking photos of the window display and the desserts on display! They are really pleasing to the eyes even though I (ice) am not a hello kitty fan because u can really see how much heart and soul the owner put in to the deco; and as for the chef, into the appearance of the food. Credits must also be given to the employees for keeping the place so clean and pretty because even the toilet deco is sparkling clean and new-looking. *A RouNd Of AppLaUsE* When our pretty food came, we were again busy snapping photos of them which were filled with Hello Kittys in all sizes and colours made with different ingredients. However, i think there is still quite alot room for improvement for the taste of the food and desserts if they are to charge at the current price which is steeper than other cafes. Drinks are alright though. Well, for Kitty fans of course this cafe is definitely not to be missed as seeing Kitty everywhere will probably make any normal food taste super Yummy..;p..As for those who are not a fan of kitty, it's still interesting to have a meal there once to feel how much love this 30+ yrs old cat is receiving from many people and see how it's beautifully incorporated into food and the cafe deco.(P.S. Anti-fans can have their own kind of fun there too but beware of the fans..HAHA;p)
Wu Fen Pu Wholesale Centre:
With a stomach 'filled with Hello Kittys', we went on to Wu Fen Pu to shop and burn them('hello kittys') off ...;P.
Its really a bargain-shopaholics' heaven !!! There's Soooooo many things to choose from and Sooooo many shops for you to compare prices and designs. But of course you'll need a very good sense of direction so as not to get lost or forget which shops you 'shortlisted'=P. Having said that, it should be obvious just how big is the place...It really seemed endless. A day there would be barely enough especially if you have to spend some time bargaining with the shopkeepers to get the best price and pick out the things that you really want from this huge amount of varieties of everything from clothes to bags to accessories to footwear etc. , instead of impulse buying;p. Its good to bring a friend or two to shop together because buying a few pieces more will let you have a much easier time bargaining for a good price. The prices can go even lower than in night markets sometimes and the clothes are mostly the current season ones.=P It's a Must Go! but bring a fan along if you are going in summer coz' it is quite warm and stuffy there given the amount of shops that are concentrated there and the crowd. We had loads of good buys there! YiPeeeee! Oh..but dont go there too early coz' most shops only open around 1+pm.
Jin Xian 'Lunchbox' Eatery :
Ok..Having burnt much energy at Wu Fen Pu shopping and bargaining..we headed to Jin Xian eatery which is recommended by Taiwaneses. This eatery is famous for their 'lunchbox' (also known as take-aways or on-the-go full meals) which is a food that i feel reflect their eating culture although to Taiwaneses it is something so common and simple that they will not think of bringing their foreign friends to try. However, i'm glad i tried it though i missed it on the HSR which also sells it( they even have those packed in the traditional metal lunchbox made for collectors on sale at HSR stations.) At JIN XIAN, i'm very impressed by their 'lunchbox' meal coz' it's so Yummy( even the side dishes)! However, i regret the fact that eating in doesnt have those dishes served in a lunchbox which is the crux of eating a lunchbox meal...=(... But It's ok...i'll be back again for the take-away!=P
KenDing Nutritious Milk Drink:
Finally, for dessert, we went for this nutritious milk drink with pearls made from black raw sugar(sorry i'm not sure of the name of this sugar and used a direct translation from chinese) which is very good for health as written on the banner in front of their shop. Most importantly, it's very delicious too! It's also highly recommended by Taiwaneses themselves.=) There was quite a long queue there but the employees there were pretty efficient and we didnt wait long for our drinks=). The drink being made with high quality milk and black sugar is very smooth and not too sweet coz black sugar is not as sweet as the normal sugar and has this very nice taste. The pearls are very chewy too.
Having satisfied our shopping and food desires, we end our day out and went back to the hotel to roughly pack our newly bought stuffs so we can gauge if our luggages are over-weight and see how much more things we can get for the next 3 days which we plan to go explore more places which we couldnt squeeze into the 4D3N schedule. We really had a very fulfilling 4D3N of our lives and we are very sure we'll have even more fun in the next 3 days so be sure to check out Bargain Queens' blog @ www.bargainqueens.blogspot.com in time to come! We'll post more infos there or photos and you can drop us a comment or question which we'll try our best to reply asap!
Oh and Please vote for us as we really want to explore and feedback more of the interesting Taiwan just for you!=)
