We are a well tested, strong  and active couple who have lived almost all of our 51 years of marriage in Australia. 

Our knowledge of and interest in Taiwan is the result of our oldest son marrying a lovely lady from Taiwan in 2001.  We went to Kaohsiung for the wedding festivities and again two years later to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Since then an extensive network of bike paths has been constructed both sides of the Love River and through the city. There are also exciting new waterfront developments which are well worth a visit for keen bike riders like us.

We also love trekking and have a lot of experience  in the New Zealand mountains, leading a 9 day Geelong Bushwalking Club hike there. More recently we have enjoyed walking holidays in W.Australia (510km.), England (200km.), Scotland (160km.) with shorter walking holidays in Belgium and Spain. We have completed 16 linear walks in New Zealand, including an alpine crossing when we hired a guide to take us over the permanent ice.

That is why Jade Mountain features on our itinery. We will engage the services of a guide to obtain permits and escort us to the top.
