3.How do I apply?

  1. There is an online application form on our website. Fill in the Team Entry Form and the Plan of Team Traveling in Taiwan and upload a 60-second “Team Audio/Video Introduction”.
  2. Application Period: June 1st to June 30th. (The application deadline is 23:59:59 GMT, June 30th)

4.When are traveling expenses reimbursed for qualified teams?

After completing the 4-day itinerary in Taiwan, entrants must show up on Day 5 at a place designated by the Bureau with an original copy of their passport. (This information is given on the admission announcement.) After confirming the submission of four videos and four 200-word introductory essays, fill in the receipt to receive NTD 28,000. (Qualified teams will receive NT$ 28,000 in travel expenses after a 20% tax imposed on foreign nationals is deducted from the actual payment of NT$ 35,000.)

5.How can I increase my chance of being selected as one of the 50 teams?

  1. Assign a clear theme to your tour: For example, “Beauty and health tour”, “Mountain ecology tour”, “Biking/hot springs tour”, “Hot springs and aboriginal village tour”, “Hakka cuisine/farm village tour”, “Urban fashion/beauty tour”, “Railway/farm village tour”, “Historic sites/temple-snacks tour”, “Studio photography/urban nightlife tour”, “Soap opera/Music video locales tour”, “Shopping tour”, “Spa/fortune-telling tour”. Entrants can combine other activities in their itineraries, which are not restricted to a single theme.
  2. Plan itineraries that are inexpensive and creative.
  3. The judging criteria will include: popularity of introductory video with blog readers (10%), creativity and inexpensiveness of the trip (55%) and feasibility of itinerary (35%).

6.How do I increase my opportunity to be admitted into the second stage of the contest and win NT$1,000,000?

  1. Besides a creative itinerary, how a team makes the tour more than worth the price is another criterion for determining the winner of “Come up with the best travel itinerary for Taiwan and win NT$1,000,000”—Part 2 of the contest.
  2. The number of votes from blog readers is one consideration in the NT$1,000,000 prize.
  3. Extra points will be awarded if a team’s travelogues or videos are shown on their own or other people’s travel blogs or websites—such as MySpace and Facebook—or added to the website links by blog readers. This will improve your chances of winning the NT$1,000,000 prize.
  4. Judging criteria: creativity and inexpensiveness of the trip (35%), feasibility of itinerary (30%), the quality of audio-visual uploads (20%), the frequency of being linked to/quoted by other websites and the popularity with blog readers (15%)

7.If team members are prevented for some reason from coming to Taiwan, can the team captain replace them with a substitute?

The application form requires uploading a team introduction video. The creation of this video and the introduction of team members are important factors in deciding admission. Thus, no substitutes can be accepted for the original team members.

8.How do I obtain an air ticket?

The entrants must pay their own airfares, but the Bureau can help qualified teams obtain round-trip tickets from China Airlines or Eva Airways at discount prices.

9.What formats are acceptable for the audio/video of the short film?

Acceptable formats are .wmv, .avi, mov., and .mpg. We suggest using MPEG4 and MP3 formats, since the picture quality is better.

10.What restrictions are there on video content?

There must be no violent or pornographic images, or abusive or illegal content. The Tourism Bureau reserves the right to delete unsuitable footage immediately without informing the party that uploaded the video.

11.Most Popular Team Award

Most Popular Team Award: The most popular team will be selected for each of three language groups (Chinese, English and Japanese) in accordance with popularity with blog readers, as measured by the number of votes won and hits on the video. Each of the chosen teams has an opportunity to win a “4 day/3 night flight + hotel package for two people”. The criteria are shown below:
  1. Votes number by viewers. (45%)
  2. Video hits by viewers. (30%)
  3. Number of the video quotes by blog and society network. (25%)
